Kitty needs a family . . .

This beautiful, lovely cat (1-2 years old, female, spayed) needs a new family. She was given to me last week - and I happily accepted her - before it was known that she has no clue as to the purpose of a litter box. My house cannot accommodate a cat that is not used to a litter box, and my county ordinances do not permit off-leash pets outdoors. How this sweet thing was ever an outdoor cat I cannot imagine, but obviously she was. So, if there's anybody out there, who can give Kitty a home, let me know. P.S. -- she is very affectionate, but also appears depressed, most of the time looking down, as she does in this picture.

Not a Garden Plant

I share a house with Praline; she got me a few years ago, when I just happened to walk through a pet store, saw an "adoption niche" and took a good look at this cat. At least part of her early life must have been miserable. She and I got along just fine, from the first moments, but it took her months before she would come out of hiding (below the skirted sofa on which this picture was taken) and let anyone else touch her. The school bus, the garbage truck, the FedEx and UPS trucks would cause a frantic dash to her hiding place and the doorbell terrified her.

Little by little, it got better and yesterday we had a breakthrough. We both heard the UPS truck coming down the street; she sat up straight and looked to the front door. The truck stopped and she jumped from her bed on my desk to the floor, running toward the stairs. Soothingly speaking to her, she stopped at the top of the stairs and even when the doorbell rang, she stayed sitting there, returning to jump back on my desk when we heard the truck leaving. Wow - such progress!

Praline

Since she is mentioned in my profile, I thought I should introduce her to you. She came, via a pet store, from an animal shelter and at the time she and I decided we could have a relationship, I had no idea what her past had been like. I still don't, but I am certain it had not been a happy one. Thanks to a skirted sofa, she easily found a safe hiding place. A truck coming down the street, even the school bus, frightened her to no end. The lawn people were spotted three or four properties away and caused a dash to the sofa. The UPS and FedEx men were big disturbances in her life, the doorbell terrorized her, and nobody got to see her for a long, long time (friends may have doubted there even was a cat in the house!). Today, two years later, a lot of the fear has disappeared; the trucks no longer bother her, she has made friends with most of my children (especially the one who is allergic to cats) and some of my friends. She is very affectionate, gorgeous and I'm very glad she got me.
